I GIVE MYSELF GRACE WHEN I . . . refuse to play the Pharisee on the heels of a stupid mistake and piously flog myself. Instead I quickly say, “I can make different choices with God’s help. The mistake doesn’t define me. It’s a tiny little sliver of the whole pie. Things will be OK. ”

I give myself grace when I recognize the physical limitations of my body and rear in God’s mercy and peace.
